Trineka Greer's Poetry

Sporadic Jolts of Thought

allow me to breathe some knowledge in your ear

what i see as a pervading fallacy in my people is fear

willie lynch has done a good job i see

he has stripped camaraderie and love away from you and me

we have committed the only unforgivable sin

Black folk have become worshippers of white men

we are in total rebellion to our one and only God

this is why the struggles of life seem so hard

we think material things should be our ultimate goal

white folk do to that's why we got stolen

from Africa a place that most us don't even know about

so we walk around in confusion always in doubt

and rightly so, we don't know our history or our culture

but if we open our eyes we would see that it is being used by vultures

you must excuse me while i digress

my conscious is in such a mess

i too must do battle with this confusion or will die

you see that formation in the middle is the opening of my third eye

the window to my soul that cannot be opened and closed at my leisure

the electromagnetic waves of thought are causing my brain to seizure

you see i am proud to be amerikka's greatest enemy

an African Womyn, of all people, reclaiming her identity

Third Eeye

spending her earnings on clothes, shoes, nails and hair
never investing in books to educate what's up there
on luck she's living day to day
not once getting on her knees to pray
disregarding the fact that her heart should be following the Lord
young girl gotta wake up one day cause sanity won't last when you live by the sword.

preoccupied with things that are superficial you see
always trying to change the outside
never concerned about her spirituality
always letting them close her third eye.

sex was just a game to her
playing russian roulette with men
never once did it occur
that to fornicate is to sin
in each encounter with a man love is what she sought
too bad she did not wake up in time because H-I-V is what she caught.

consumed with the pleasure of the flesh
running away from the pain burning deep inside
all the while leaving her true emotions a mess
continuing to close her third eye.

trying to have so much fun before she met her maker
never once did she consider that he might not want take her
eventually she realized that heaven was here on earth
but unfortunately she did not wake up until she was six feet beneath the dirt
before her death the young girl did not attempt to cry
because she was absorbed in the wonder of what she could see with her third eye.
